Who is eligible to vote in the NHAA, Inc. election?

Who is eligible to vote in the NHAA, Inc. election?

According to the NHAA, Inc. Bylaws, Article II – Membership, if you have received degrees, diplomas, or certificates from Hampton University or its predecessors, or if you have attended the university for at least one semester (including a summer session) and left in good standing, and have participated in alumni giving at least once in the past five (5) years, you are considered an eligible voter for NHAA, Inc.

How will I receive my ballot to cast a vote in the election?
  • Members with a class year designation of 1964 or later will receive election notifications via email from the election vendor (YesElections). These emails will include instructions for voting online.

 

  • Members with a class year designation of 1963 or earlier will receive notification via United States Postal Service (USPS) from the election vendor to the address the University has on file for you.
    The notification will contain instructions on how to access the online voting platform or how to request a paper ballot.

 

Can I still vote online if I receive a mail-in ballot?

Yes, you can still vote online using your unique credentials provided within the notification. The notice from YesElections will provide clear instructions.

What do I do if I don't receive my mailed notice or online ballot?
  • If you do not receive an announcement by US Postal Mail or Email by March 7th, contact YesElections at Help+NHAA@yeselections.com or (866) 384-9978.
  • If YesElections indicates your name is not listed on the voter file and/or your contact information needs updating, contact Crystal Williams at the Office of Development, directly, at (757) 727-5645.

What information is required to vote online?

Unless your class designation is 1964 or earlier, instructions and your unique credentials for accessing the online voting platform will be included in the email that will be sent from YesElections. You will need the information provided to you to log in and cast your vote.

Is my vote anonymous?

Yes, the online voting platform ensures the anonymity of your vote. Your identity and voting choices will remain confidential.

How will the results be announced?
  • The election results will be announced in May via email as well as the official social media channels  . All members will be notified of the outcome.
