Dear Fellow Hamptonians,
Just back from our 13th Biennial Convention and while I didn’t think this was possible, my passion, dedication and adoration for our dear Home by the Sea has grown even stronger!
Seeing faces from classes ranging from Emeritus to 2018 come together with one purpose, to make our Hampton the very best that it can be, was truly inspiring!
Here are a few highlights:
- President Harvey shared the State of the University, which included some exciting new items related to the Caribbean Initiative, which will focus on research and training for health disparities of people of color, potential involvement with Phi Beta Kappa, and a possible workforce development program.
- Notable awards were given to some amazing alumni for continuing to let their lives do the singing! Congratulations to Michael Byrd ’80 and Andre Debose ’80! We also honored our outgoing NHAA President, Dorothy Lee Murray ’80 with a Past President award.
- Your new NHAA Board was officially installed! They shared their goals for this term and highlighted ways fellow alumni can get involved. See the listing of the board here: https://www.nhaainc.org/meet-our-team/
- Huge shout out to the Chicago Chapter for welcoming us with open arms from helping with registration to making sure we all got a chance to see different areas of their city!
The biennial was time well spent with our phenomenal fellow alumni. We have much work to do to continue to move our organization, Future Forward! Please consider getting involved today by reaching out to your local alumni chapter President. Working together and allowing our collective passion for our dear Hampton to guide our steps will produce magnificent results!
In the Hampton spirit,
